Kurz-Kasch History

 

Since its founding in 1916, Kurz-Kasch has developed a leading reputation as a premier provider of highly critical, engineered components for a wide variety of extremely demanding applications. Throughout its history, Kurz-Kasch has placed an emphasis on superior quality, outstanding customer service and a commitment to innovation. The following is a summary of the Company's major historical milestones.

  • Founded by C.A. Kurz, Jr. and H.J. Kasch, Sr. in Dayton, Ohio

1920s
  • Established as the original Bakelite processor in the United States
  • Technical innovations include preforms, radio frequency pre-heaters, injection molded thermosets and vacuum tube bases

1960
  • Established manufacturing facility in Newcomerstown, Ohio

1975
  • Built a new manufacturing facility in Wilmington, Ohio

1979
  • Established corporate headquarters in Dayton, Ohio

1989
  • Entered phenolic brake piston business with purchase of assets from the Haskon Division

1991
  • Established electromagnetic stator business in Newcomerstown with initial contracts from Diesel Technology Corp.

2001
  • Acquired by Dover Corporation

2002
  • Acquired certain assets of Mayfair Corporation, a manufacturer of specialty plastic components

2003
  • Acquired Wabash Magnetics LLC, a leading manufacturer of actuating and sensing devices with operations in South Boston, Virginia, and Wabash, Indiana
  • Newcomerstown earned certification for TS16949

2005
  • Acquired certain assets of Rostone, a manufacturer of specialty plastic components
  • Awarded first electric motor contract
  • Established presence at the National Composites Center
  • First prototype parts utilizing K2 processes and materials introduced

2006
  • Signed five-year production contract with a key manufacturer of fuel systems for diesel engines in China
  • Opened manufacturing facility in Jaguariuna, Brazil

2007
  • Acquired by Monomoy Capital Partners, LLC.  
  • Acquired the assets of MacLean Molded Components, LLC from MacLean Vehicle Systems, LLC ("MVS"), a leading manufacturer of critical parts for automatic transmissions and heat shields

2008
  • Acquired Macon Electric Coil, Inc., a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of electromagnetic products, solenoids and composite components
